When I was a kid I always had a hard time keeping a promise. I did not mean to be that way but I stayed so busy because I was the star on the football team. I was always going to events and doing things with the guys. One time I felt really bad when I told my mom that I promised to be there for her birthday party and I forgot because I was at the game and we went out to eat when it was done. Mom always told me that if I kept this up that I would need something to remind me to stay with my girl when I found one and I knew that she was right.

Years went by and I first tried to avoid falling in love because I was afraid of the promise and not being able to keep it. Later I did met the girl of my dreams and she turned out to be my life and what I lived for. I was so scared of losing her that I decided to get her a diamond promise ring. I read that this ring would show her that I wanted to marry her and that I promised to stay devoted to her only and that I cared for her deeply.

I took my girlfriend out to a very nice place and got them to turn down the lights some. I got down on my knees and put the promise ring on her finger and told her that I wanted to marry her at some point and that this was my sign of devotion to her. She wept and accepted the ring. Tonight I am asking her to marry me and I have a feeling that she will say yes because she now knows that I keep my promises with her.
